Research
1. What production stage does the research take place? The Pre-Production stage
2. What are the two methods of collecting research? Primary research (surveys) doing it yourself. Secondary research (online) getting other peoples information. need to research existing products and every project needs to do this, doing this can help find out about what needs to be included in different products. Doing audience research by showing them prototypes (an early draft of a final product)

TYPES OF RESEARCH:
Audience Research - Research into the target audience E.G. Age, Gender Lifestyle (Demographics) the purpose of this is to understand the interests of the audience as these are the ones purchasing the product, can also effectively reach out to the target audience.
Market Research - How and where the product will be available - Existing Market and the revenue for the product and how the product will find space in the market
Product Research - Will the product be worth making.
PRIMARY RESEARCH.
What does this mean? This means research done by ourselves as in going out and collecting all our own information
Give three examples of how this is done.
Surveys online and in the streets
Questionnaire - Can get detailed feedback
What are the advantages/disadvantages of each?
Have collected all our own information so that no one else will have all the same information
Quantitative - Yes/No - One word answers - however these are too short and doesn't give detail to help improve the product or design/whatever you have given them to look at, however these are very quick and easy to analyse because of how short the answers are.
Qualitative - Yes/No - And then why they have said yes or no. However this takes a long time to analyse from how long all their answers are due to detail and more than one word.
SECONDARY RESEARCH.
Any type of internet research and one that ends in .org/.ac/.gov as these are all official and made by professionals
An advantage of internet research is that it is not time consuming because the information is already there and the internet is accessible everywhere which makes it a lot easier to do.
A disadvantage is that the source always has to be checked to make sure it is valid (true) especially if the information wants to be used in a product.
FOCUS GROUP
Focus group - Arrange for a group of people to give you verbal + written feed back (meeting) these people being the target audience
Ethical issues if someone is unavailable to interact so have features to access the focus group. should also worry about payments or friends involved as the information could be invalid as they are getting something out of it.
Another disadvantage is that it is time consuming to analyse because of how long it takes to get all the data together
INTERVIEW
Focus group - Arrange for a group of people to give you verbal + written feed back (meeting) these people being the target audience
Ethical issues if someone is unavailable to interact so have features to access the focus group. should also worry about payments or friends involved as the information could be invalid as they are getting something out of it.
Another disadvantage is that it is time consuming to analyse because of how long it takes to get all the data together
SIMILARITIES
- Speak to the target audience
- Pre arranged
- Ask Questions
DIFFERENCES
- Formal
- 1-2-1/Less people
JOURNALS
- Written by a person/organisation
- Research based (Facts & Figures)
Advantages
- Using somebody else's research/documentation
- Very accessible
- Written by professionals so we know the information is valid

L03 Pre Production Documents & Forms
once a production schedule of the tasks are organised, the following forms would need to be created
A) Call Sheet
B) Consent Form
C) Location Release
TASK
1. Define the purpose of each one
2. Which order would the above be completed in
Call Sheet - involves planning to go film or take photographs, made in advance of the photoshoot/filming session. H as to be distributed to the cast and crew before the event.
Consent Form - A form signed to give permission to use people in scenes and distribute the product with them involved.
Location Release - Permission given to a film crew to film in a specific location they have chosen to film and is a legal contract because it is someones private property.
CONSENT FORM

2) Who would SIGN it? - People that are giving their permission to the company to use something/them in the product
3) What are the potential LEGAL & ETHICAL issues that could be faced without this form. the company can be sued as they are representing the model in a specific way they haven't agreed to, have been miss-represented
LOCATION RELEASE FORM
1) What are the SIMILARITIES compared to a CONSENT FORM?
2) Who would sign this form
CALL SHEET
1) What type of production would this be used for?
2) Who is a call sheet used by? Almost all media productions (cast and crew)
3) Why would it be needed before the production starts? Everyone knows what they need to do and for when it needs to be done

Road Safety
aiming to pass
wanting merit
- time frame
- tasks
- contingency
- milestone
- equipment list
Production Schedule
- used to plan ideas for a product
Gantt chart - a type of production schedule but this is used for the entire project
Launch Date - When the product is due and also when it will be given to the audience and is available by
Gantt charts are visual representations of what needs to be done by a certain date
Advantages
- Keeps everything organised
Disadvantages
- Tells you what to do but not how to do it which is quite limiting
These are both project tools being things we use to plan projects however a production schedule would be used more frequently than a Gantt chart. The Gantt chart would be used first to break things down week by week then go onto a production schedule.
an advantage of a production schedule would be that everyone in the team can access it and know what they are doing the whole way through the project.
A disadvantage of a production schedule is that each job roll effects another one and can stop anything moving on which creates a butterfly effect on all of the other jobs
will have more effective examples than ineffective because they are creating a real product

Identify one type of project management tool that could be used to keep track of the project tasks and explain why it is suitable for this task.
A tool that could be used for this is the Gantt charts which tells you everything that needs to be done by a certain time this will help in the road safety scenario because there will be separate jobs that will be needed to be done in time to move on to the next ones such as completing the coding and sound effects so that it can be released as these are the main things needed for the game to be created. This will also make sure that no one is falling behind as they have a time frame of 7 weeks until the game has to be released.
